BigChange alternative
DoorOps vs BigChange
for door contractors.
BigChange is an all-in-one job management and vehicle tracking platform sold through a demo, from £79.95 per user a month by its own account. DoorOps is a door-only product with published prices, a 14-day trial and a BigChange importer. Here is the honest comparison.
Short version
- BigChange publishes no prices on its pricing page. Its own blog quotes JobWatch from £79.95 per office or mobile user a month. DoorOps is £45 per engineer and £22 per office user.
- Door firms who use BigChange tell us the scheduling is really good and the quoting is clunky, so they quote in Xero. DoorOps keeps the quote on the job record.
- BigChange bundles vehicle tracking and rugged tablets and has 2,000+ customers and 24/7 support. DoorOps has none of that scale yet.

Pricing and terms
What you pay, and for how long.
DoorOps prices are the live rates on our pricing page. BigChange figures are quoted from their public pages, checked 10 September 2026.
| DoorOps | BigChange | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | £45 per engineer and £22 per office user each month (£450 / £220 a year). Plus adds £29 a month, Scale £79, for larger AI and subcontractor-job allowances. Prices exclude VAT. | Not published on bigchange.com/pricing, which is a demo form. BigChange’s own blog (August 2025) quotes JobWatch from £79.95 per office or mobile user a month and Job Management Plus from £99.95 per mobile user, often with managed rugged tablets. |
| Who counts as a user | Engineers and office users have different rates. Someone who does both counts once as an engineer. External subcontractors use job credits, not seats. | Office and mobile users are both charged. Vehicle tracking is included with every mobile user. |
| Minimum | One engineer seat. | Not published. Quote-based. |
| Contract | Monthly, billed monthly, cancel before the next bill. Annual is optional and paid up front. | Not published. Terms are agreed on the demo call. |
| Free trial | 14-day trial of the full product. No card needed to start. | None. Software Advice lists no free trial and no free version. Access is by demo. |
| Onboarding | None. Guided setup checklist and UK-based support are included. | Structured onboarding is a selling point. BigChange’s own blog lists "a longer onboarding and setup period" and a "higher price point" as cons. |
| Feature gating | Core, Plus and Scale share every operational feature. Tiers differ only in monthly AI credits (12,000 / 30,000 / 75,000) and subcontractor jobs (5 / 20 / 50, plus 2 per engineer). | Two tiers, JobWatch and Job Management Plus. What sits in each is not published. |
For door work
The features a door company actually uses.
Not a 200-row feature grid. The twelve things that decide whether the office chases the job sheet or reads it.
| DoorOps | BigChange | |
|---|---|---|
| One record per door job | One record per job and per customer: quote, drawings, RAMS, photos, worksheet, notes and the PDF you sent. That is the product. | CRM with a 360-degree customer view, service history and a compliance documentation hub for CE marks and force-test certificates. |
| Quoting | Quote builder with price lists on the job record. Send, accept, convert to a job, invoice from the same screen. | On-site digital quoting is advertised. Door firms in a trade Facebook group described the quoting and invoicing as "too clunky" and use Xero instead, attaching the BigChange job-sheet PDF. |
| Worksheets and forms | Custom form builder, DoorOps door presets, shareable worksheet links, photos and signatures, on every tier. | JobWatch app with digital forms, certificates, signatures and mandatory safety checks before work starts. |
| AI review | AI action summaries, wording checks and a compliance guardian, included as monthly credits on every tier. | Not advertised on the industrial door or pricing pages. |
| Assets and PPM | Asset register with QR labels, PPM planner and contracts on every tier. | Automated maintenance schedules per door type and multi-site contract visibility. |
| RAMS | RAMS and safety workflows on every tier. | Mandatory risk assessment and workflow documents in the app; timesheets are blocked until they are done. |
| Subcontractors | Send a job to a subcontractor by secure link. They complete the worksheet without a seat. | Not described on the door page. |
| Engineer and vehicle tracking | Live engineer location and customer tracking links. Vehicle tracking accepts a telematics feed; DoorOps does not supply hardware. | Vehicle tracking hardware, live engineer location and route optimisation are core to the product and included with mobile users. |
| Customer portal | Customer portal on every tier. | Online booking portal, tracking links and automated customer updates. |
| Quotes, invoices, accounts | Quotes, invoices, purchase orders, stock and job costs built in. Native Xero, Sage and QuickBooks invoice push is in build; today invoices leave by API and webhooks. | Invoicing, online payments, Sage, Xero and QuickBooks integrations. |
| Mobile app | Web app, installable on the phone home screen. Worksheet progress survives lost signal, but it is not an offline-first native app. | Native JobWatch app; the Plus tier can include managed rugged tablets. |
| API and automation | REST API, webhooks, Zapier and an MCP server for AI agents (API and MCP are separately scoped access). | Integrations exist; API terms are not on the public pages. |
| Track record | No published reviews, case studies or named customers yet. DoorOps launched in 2026 and says so. | "More than 2,000" UK service businesses by its own count, 270 reviews on Software Advice, 24/7 UK support, named door case studies. |
Honest answer
When BigChange is the better fit
- You want vehicle telematics, rugged tablets and job software from one vendor on one invoice.
- You run dozens of engineers and need route optimisation across skills, traffic and vehicle type every morning.
- You are a multi-trade business and door work is one of several service lines.
- You need 24/7 support and a customer success manager who visits.
Where DoorOps wins
When DoorOps is the better fit
- You want to see the price before a sales call, and try the product before a contract.
- Your team is one to ten vans and £79.95 a user is most of the margin on a callout.
- You already quote in Xero because the job software makes it hard. DoorOps keeps the quote, drawings, RAMS and notes on the job and sends the paperwork from there.
- You want the office to know what needs doing next from the worksheet, not from a phone call.
Still on a calendar and the notes app?
Most door firms are not switching from software at all.
Ask a door engineers group what they run jobs on and the honest answers are a phone calendar, the Notes app and a WhatsApp group for quotes and measures. That works until the third engineer, or the customer who asks what you found last time. DoorOps keeps your calendar and Xero, and gives every job one record: customer, quote, drawings, RAMS, photos, worksheet and the PDF you sent.
Migration
Moving from BigChange
Keep BigChange running while you try DoorOps. Nothing here asks you to cut over on day one.
- 1Connect the BigChange REST API from Settings and import contacts and persons first, so new DoorOps forms already have customer names attached.
- 2Core, Plus and Scale include the full historical import: jobs, finance and field history into an encrypted archive, with operational mapping where a safe DoorOps record exists. Timesheets need an explicit date range.
- 3JobWatch binary attachments are not included until that separately licensed BigChange service is confirmed on your account. Plan to export important PDFs yourself.
- 4While you run both, DoorOps can hand a reviewed worksheet PDF back to the JobWatch job when it is configured.
Common questions
How much does BigChange cost?
BigChange does not publish prices on its pricing page. Its own blog post from August 2025 quotes JobWatch from £79.95 per office or mobile user a month and Job Management Plus from £99.95 per mobile user. Contract length and minimums are agreed on a demo call.
Can I keep BigChange for scheduling and use DoorOps for the job record?
You can run both while you decide; the BigChange connector imports contacts first and can hand reviewed PDFs back to JobWatch. Most teams find the DoorOps scheduler covers a door company’s day, but if BigChange route optimisation is why you bought it, test that before you switch.
Does DoorOps do vehicle tracking?
DoorOps shows live engineer location from the phone and can accept a telematics feed from your existing trackers. It does not supply tracker hardware or tablets. If you want hardware and software from one vendor, that is BigChange’s strength.
Where are these BigChange figures from?
