Commusoft alternative

Door Ops vs Commusoft
for door contractors.

Commusoft, headquartered in London, is a field service system with real depth in plumbing, heating and renewables: Gas Safe and CP12 certificates, van stock, boiler service reminders. It is sold on a 12-month licence after a call. Door Ops puts that kind of depth into doors instead, billed monthly. Here is where each earns its keep.

Short version

  • Commusoft publishes no prices and signs licences for 12 months that renew annually. Door Ops shows its rates and bills monthly from one engineer seat.
  • Commusoft’s certificates, stock and PPM are shaped around gas, heating and renewables. Door Ops ships door sheets, door asset records and RAMS.
  • Commusoft has an offline native app, a customer portal and 4.7 from 212 reviews on Software Advice UK. Door Ops is a web app with no reviews yet.

What you pay, and for how long.

Door Ops prices are the live rates on our pricing page. Commusoft figures are quoted from their public pages, checked 23 September 2026.

 Door OpsCommusoft

Every office user, manager and engineer needs a licence. Subcontractors can have daily licences, billed by the days used.
Minimum
One engineer seat.
Commusoft’s FAQ mentions minimum licences, but the plans page we read gives no number.
Contract
Monthly, billed monthly, cancel before the next bill. Annual is optional and paid up front.
12-month contracted licences that renew annually. Monthly rolling licences can be added on top for seasonal staff.
Free trial
free trial of the full product. No card needed to start.
Software Advice UK lists no free trial. Commusoft’s plumbing page ends in a free-trial form; the plans page leads to a call.
Onboarding
None. Guided setup checklist and UK-based support are included.
Built into every package: personalised training, a follow-up about eight weeks later and periodic business reviews. Its cost is not published.
Feature gating
Lite covers paperwork; Core adds full job management; Plus adds stock, purchasing approvals, detailed reporting and integrations. Compare current feature packages and team totals on our pricing page.
Go Paperless: job tracking, custom forms, certificates. Customer Journey adds contracts and PPM, multi-location stock and SLA monitoring. Automation adds mass scheduling and security roles. Sales+, Fleet+ and SMS+ are add-ons.

Honest answer

When Commusoft is the better fit

  • Your business is plumbing, heating, gas or renewables, with doors as a side line. Commusoft’s CP12, Gas Safe and MCS workflow is built for that.
  • You carry van stock across many engineers and need it tracked live against job sheets.
  • Your engineers spend the day in plant rooms and basements and need a fully offline native app.
  • You want structured onboarding with follow-up sessions and business reviews, and are comfortable signing for a year.

Where Door Ops wins

When Door Ops is the better fit

  • Doors are the whole business, and you want door sheets and door asset records without adapting a heating system.
  • You will not sign a 12-month licence before your team has used the software on real jobs.
  • You want to see the monthly cost on a web page, not after a call.
  • You want RAMS built and issued per job, and an AI summary of each worksheet included today.

Still on a calendar and the notes app?

Most door firms are not switching from software at all.

Ask a door engineers group what they run jobs on and the honest answers are a phone calendar, the Notes app and a WhatsApp group for quotes and measures. That works until the third engineer, or the customer who asks what you found last time. Door Ops keeps your calendar and Xero, and gives every job one record: customer, quote, drawings, RAMS, photos, worksheet and the PDF you sent.

Migration

Planning a move from Commusoft

Keep Commusoft running while you try Door Ops. Nothing here asks you to cut over on day one.

  1. 1Check your renewal date first. Commusoft licences run for 12 months, so start Door Ops a couple of months before the term ends.
  2. 2Ask Commusoft for an export of customers, work addresses and assets, then import customers and sites into Door Ops from Settings using the template.
  3. 3Download the certificates you have issued and keep them against the customer or site in Door Ops, so each door’s history stays with it.

Common questions

How much does Commusoft cost?

Commusoft does not publish prices; its FAQ says to speak to the team. The Software Advice UK listing gives a starting price of £59 a month. Every office user and engineer needs a licence, and contracted licences run for 12 months.

How long is a Commusoft contract?

Standard plans are a 12-month contract that renews annually. Monthly rolling licences can be added for seasonal staff and daily licences for subcontractors. Door Ops bills monthly, and annual billing is optional.

Is Commusoft suitable for door companies?

Commusoft names plumbing and heating, electrical, HVAC, renewables, building maintenance and generators as its markets. A door firm can use its forms, contracts and assets, but it will build the door paperwork itself. Door Ops starts with door presets.

Does Door Ops work offline like Commusoft?

Not fully. Door Ops is a web app that keeps worksheet progress through a lost signal. Commusoft’s native app is designed to work offline, which matters if your engineers spend long spells without signal.

Where are these Commusoft facts from?

Commusoft’s plans page, general FAQs and plumbing software page, plus the Software Advice UK listing, checked 23 September 2026. Links are under Sources.
