Tradify alternative

Door Ops vs Tradify
for door contractors.

Tradify is simple quote-to-invoice software for electricians, plumbers, gas and HVAC firms, at £34 to £44 per user a month. Door Ops is narrower and deeper: door sheets, door asset records, PPM, RAMS and subcontractor links. The question is whether your work needs that depth.

Short version

  • Tradify costs £34, £37 or £44 per user a month and every user pays the same. Door Ops charges £45 per engineer and £22 per office user, so the sums depend on your office headcount.
  • Tradify is quick to learn and syncs with Xero, Sage and QuickBooks on every plan. Door Ops cannot yet push invoices into accounts natively.
  • Tradify has no asset register, PPM planner or RAMS on its plan list, and it does not work offline. Door Ops has all three and saves worksheet progress without signal.

Honest answer

When Tradify is the better fit

  • You want the simplest possible path from enquiry to quote to paid invoice, and your team will not use anything more involved.
  • Your accounts already live in Xero, Sage or QuickBooks and you want invoices to sync there today.
  • Doors are a small part of an electrical, plumbing or property maintenance business.
  • You want thousands of published reviews from other trades before you commit.

Where Door Ops wins

When Door Ops is the better fit

  • You maintain doors on contract and need each door as an asset with a QR label, a service history and a PPM schedule.
  • Your site work needs RAMS, and Tradify does not list them.
  • Your engineers work in plant rooms and basements. Tradify stops without a connection; Door Ops keeps the worksheet in progress.
  • You have more office staff than a small trade firm. Door Ops office seats are £22 against the same per-user rate for everyone at Tradify.

Still on a calendar and the notes app?

Most door firms are not switching from software at all.

Ask a door engineers group what they run jobs on and the honest answers are a phone calendar, the Notes app and a WhatsApp group for quotes and measures. That works until the third engineer, or the customer who asks what you found last time. Door Ops keeps your calendar and Xero, and gives every job one record: customer, quote, drawings, RAMS, photos, worksheet and the PDF you sent.

Migration

Bringing your Tradify data across

Keep Tradify running while you try Door Ops. Nothing here asks you to cut over on day one.

  1. 1Tradify exports customers, suppliers, price list items, jobs and invoices to CSV from inside the app. Do this before you cancel, because the account closes on cancellation.
  2. 2Import customers and sites into Door Ops from Settings using the Door Ops template.
  3. 3Put the job and invoice CSVs into the structured export archive under Settings, Integrations, so the history is kept even before you map it.

Common questions

How much does Tradify cost in the UK?

Tradify lists £34 per user a month on Lite, £37 on Pro and £44 on Plus, with Custom pricing for large teams by phone. Text messages are 10p each and the Instant Website is £10 a month on top.

Is Door Ops cheaper than Tradify?

It depends on the team. For engineers Tradify is cheaper: £37 on Pro against £45 at Door Ops standard rates (£39 for eligible founders). For office staff Door Ops is cheaper at £22 (£19 founders) because Tradify charges every user the same.

Does Tradify work offline?

No. Tradify’s help centre says the app and web console both need a live internet connection. Door Ops saves worksheet progress through a lost signal, though it is not a fully offline native app either.

Can I import my Tradify data into Door Ops?

Yes, through spreadsheets. Export customers, jobs and invoices to CSV from Tradify, then import customers and sites from Door Ops Settings. There is no direct Tradify connector.

Where are these Tradify figures from?
